Bambusa multiplex Fernleaf.
Origin
This species is a form of Japanese Hedge Bamboo. Probably started out in Southern China.
Characteristics
Fernlike foliage on arching culms reaching 3-4 m. Recognised by its squat outline. Leaf complements form a flat plane said to be like a birds open tail feather.
Use
For pot culture and in landscaping. Traditionally grown next to rocks in temples and parks in central, coastal China and central and southern Japan.
Requirements
Keep out of anything over moderate frosts. |
